Our tariffs in a nutshell
- CitizEn’s Fixed No Exit Fee (gas and electric)
The benefit of this tariff is that there is no exit fee so if you want to switch to another tariff (or supplier) within the 12 month fixed period, you can do so without being charged.
- CitizEn’s Fixed with Exit Fee (gas and electric)
This is the cheapest 12 month option, but if you were to switch (tariff or supplier) within the 12 month fixed period you would be charged £30 for switching your gas, and £30 for switching your electric.
- CitizEn’s Forever Fixed with Exit Fee (gas and electric)
The benefit of this tariff is that after 18 months you will automatically be switched on to our cheapest available fixed tariff (don’t worry – the tariff you are automatically switched on to won’t have any exit fees). If you don’t want to switch every year, then this may be the tariff for you. We will keep you on a competitive fixed tariff until you decide to switch (tariff or supplier).
- CitizEn’s Variable (gas and electric)
The standard variable tariff is normally the most expensive meter tariff. If you don’t renew at the end of one of our 12 month fixed tariffs you will be automatically rolled on to this one. We’ll contact you towards the end of the fixed tariff term to help keep you off the variable tariff. If you are currently on our standard variable tariff, call us on 0800 953 0165 and we’ll help you find the cheapest tariff with us.
- CitizEn’s Pre Payment (gas and electric) - now available!
Please note that each of our tariffs will enable a single or economy 7 type (day / night) electricity tariff.

Frequently asked questions
What does ‘fixed’ mean?
‘Fixed’ means that for that period of time the price is guaranteed and won’t change.
What’s an exit fee?
An exit fee means that if you want to switch tariff or energy supplier before the end of the fixed period you will have to pay a fee. Please note some tariffs do not have an exit fee.
What is an Economy 7 tariff?
Economy 7 tariff is normally for those with electric heating and means that you normally pay a lower amount for electricity during the night than you pay in the day. If you have an electric car or electric storage heating and you wish to charge these at night on a cheaper rate this may be the tariff for you. If you’re not using much energy at night then this tariff is probably not for you.
What is the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme?
The Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme is an environmental programme introduced by the government to promote the use of small-scale renewable and low-carbon electricity generation technologies. That means you can be rewarded for creating your own ‘green energy. Find out more here
